It's been years since I've bought anything X Men related I really hated the art direction and turns and twists Marvel did with the series. But in the last couple of years my interests have started to peak again. I heard about House Of M and how it was a new start for the X Men and how it was the beginning of the story line of Avengers Vs X Men and the Hope story as well so I recently bought most of the graphic novels beginning with House Of M and House Of M was good the story was brilliant but the art direction was to modern and I didn't care for the look of the characters. This one however Messiah Complex is amazingly beautiful and an awesome story as well. The art work reminds me of Chris Claremonts style back in the day but with some very good updates to the look and style. It's kept the fantasy of the look without going to far but didn't modernize the art work to a boring extreme. I hate realism and how it's taken over escapism in the look and feel of my favorite comic's. I didn't regret buying this one like I did a little with House Of M this was really enjoyable and it was almost like being a kid again I hope the next couple of comic's I read in this story line of Hope and ultimately Avengers Vs X Men doesn't disappoint who knows maybe Marvel will start being worth investing money in again for me. However if everything I've read about what's going on now with our beloved character's I don't know. It's obvious Marvel feels a need to stir the pot to stay relevant hopefully it's not to stupid and extreme.

Being a comic book fan, I see more and more of a flux in terms of good story, good art, and overall enjoyment that comes from collections. I now tend to pick up the collected works that I hear are good and/or appear worth reading. I really enjoyed this book! It's hard to get a story arch where I enjoy all the artists along with te story being told. This book had both. I am a fan of the art of both Bachelo and Ramos and thought, but the other artists were just as fantastic.
There are lots of interesting plot developments that were made possible from the events of 'House of M' and 'M day' and this book hits a home run. Each twist I found interesting and even though I think there was a body count that I was a bit shocked to see, there is a good bit of layer to each character heavily involved. Lots of different motivations for each character as well as some great action. I've gone back to read some of the classic xmen stories and X-tinction Agenda looks bad next to this. Honestly pick up this book of you are an Xmen fan. You will not be disappointed!

Kicking off one of the biggest meta-arcs in X-MEN history, MESSIAH COMPLEX is the story of the first mutant child born after the tragic Decimation of mutantkind in HOUSE OF M. It's a race to find this New Mutant before he or she can be killed by human zealots or exploited by mutant factions. And a wild card has entered the race and taken the lead.

Not as good as House of M. There is A LOT going on in this graphic novel. Some of it I really liked, and some I had to reread to understand. Leaving out a couple of storylines would have made it much more enjoyable. Predator X was unnecessary to the book overall and only complicated the story.

I have read the x-men years upon years, if you want to read a good story and get lost in a good X-men cross over this is for you. I do not get hung up on all the this and that you see in other reviews. I just love a good to great story with great art work and action and this cross over has it all. Granted I have not read the X-men in quite a few years so I have missed much, but I am getting back to reading them and yes they have changed a lot from the last I read them. But I still love the X-men.

I got this as I was getting back into comics and unfortunately for my wallet, it was awesome. I could not put this down. It was also surprisingly hard to find in town...I basically HAD to buy it on Amazon. I'm not going to dwell on specifics of the story that much but I will say that it was completely awesome. You don't need to know tons about it and you can basically just get a little back story on the goings on by reading wikipedia. I enjoyed this as well as Second Coming and immediately started picking up some of the X books. I'm glad to see them start pumping out good X-Men stuff because I haven't really been that impressed for a while now.

Let me start out by saying this is by far one of my favorite graphic novels I've ever read! The plot takes place after the events of House of M, Decimation and Endangered Species which by reading them would help give a better understanding of what is happening. If you haven't done so, then that's alright this is a whole other story you will definitely enjoy.
I don't want to spoil anything like other people do by writing three to four paragraphs about the book so I don't want to ruin your excitement. In short, it's an all out war. Humans and mutants who want to obtain the mutant baby "Messiah". Each page keeps you more and more hooked into the story. Lots of questions and answers are brought up and many yet to be unfolded. Who gets the baby "Messiah"? Well, you just find that out on your own when you get your copy.
